How much does teeth whitening cost?
In-office Zoom whitening at Creative Dental costs $450 per session. Couples deal: when two patients book together, the price drops to $400 per person. The full treatment takes a little over an hour.
How long does teeth whitening last?
“The old color comes back in about three to five years depending on whether the patient is a heavy smoker or a coffee drinker,” Dr. Mozner says. Patients who avoid heavy staining substances tend to see results closer to the five-year mark. Touch-up treatments are available.
Is in-office whitening better than whitening strips?
“In-office whitening is worth it because by law the United States cannot allow pharmacists to sell high-peroxide bleaching materials. They have to be handled by a doctor in the dental office. OTC strips use lower concentration which is not as effective as in-office whitening.”
Creative Dental uses the Zoom system at 15% hydrogen peroxide – significantly stronger than the 3-10% in store-bought strips.
How white will my teeth get?
Most patients achieve two to three shades of improvement in a single session. The result depends on starting shade, staining type, and enamel condition. Patients with deep intrinsic staining may be better candidates for porcelain veneers.
What should I avoid after teeth whitening?
“No stained products, no stained food products should be consumed for a week,” Dr. Mozner instructs. Avoid coffee, tea, red wine, dark sodas, tomato sauce, berries, soy sauce, and tobacco for 7 days. After the first week, resume your normal diet.
Does teeth whitening damage enamel?
Professional in-office whitening under a dentist’s supervision is safe for tooth enamel. The Zoom system includes a protective gum barrier and controlled hydrogen peroxide application. Some temporary sensitivity for 24-48 hours is normal and resolves on its own.
Can I whiten my teeth if I have veneers or crowns?
Whitening only works on natural tooth enamel. Porcelain veneers, crowns, and bonding material do not respond to bleaching agents. Dr. Mozner can discuss options to ensure a uniform appearance if you have restorations on your front teeth.
